Youth education classes begin at 11:00 am

Starting in September the children will go directly to Sunday School. They will come to the sanctuary at the end of services for their blessing.

Mission

Unity Christ Church (UCC) is dedicated to providing a safe, loving environment where all children/teens may unfold their divine potential. We are also committed to providing the children/teens exposure to (and practical skills using) Unity principles through Unity based curriculum and interaction with adults studying/living the Unity principles.

Classes

The nursery is available on Sunday mornings for infants and toddlers approximately 0 to 3 years old. The purpose of the nursery is to provide a safe and loving place for babies to be introduced to the church building and their church family.

Unitots Unitots are our children that are ready for some learning time, ages 3 to 6. Being very sensitive to their short attention span, the teachers have a brief lesson taken from the What A Wonderful World curriculum designed by Unity for this age group. There are also songs, games, and crafts offered that coincide with the lesson.

This classroom is for children in First through Second Grades. Children in this class should be able to read, follow directions, and participate in craft, drama, and light physical activities and games. The curriculum materials introduce simple Bible lessons, the Five Unity Principles worded for understanding by this age, prayer and meditation, as well as supporting individual creativity and recognition of the Divine Within.

Unikids This classroom is for children in 3rd through 5th grades. Children in this class will be introduced to simple Bible lessons, the Five Unity Principles, the meaning and practice of prayer and meditation, as well as supporting individual creativity and recognition of the Divine Within.

Uniteens are 6th, 7th and 8th grade students learning to accept personal responsibility for making right choices in life and becoming more aware of their spiritual nature. In Uniteens, we learn what the principles and laws of the universe are - we see how to apply these magnificent guidelines to our lives - it is personal and powerful and safe and definitely not boring!

YOU Youth of Unity (YOU) is a spiritual group for High School aged teens (14-18) who come together every week to discover who they are as spiritual beings. Walk into a place where negative judgment, criticism and peer pressure are left outside - where teens are free to express who they are and who they want to be. Our experience includes a weekly service with many of the spiritual lessons given by the teens. YOUs are adult guided, youth directed. If you are a teen at heart, this is the place for you! Calendar of Events

YOUTH EDUCATION FOR THE FALL
In planning for our Sunday School that begins September 7, we came up with some fun activities for our youth. Things like Movie night for our teens; a lock-in for the 3rd thru 5th graders; and the beginning stages of planning for the Holiday activities are all in the works.

We have some wonderful new people joining us to teach this year: Lauren Goldstein, Bernadette Duzon-Pickett, Bonnie Grimm, Elizabeth Gensler, and Kamal Ahmed. I would like to welcome back those that continue to support the Youth Ed program year after year. I would also like to give a hearty welcome back to Brad Watkins, who will be sponsoring YOU this fall.

If you want to be part of the fun and share in some of our activities, you don’t have to be or have a child, you just have to love children. For more information on how you can share of your talents with the young people of our congregation, please contact Jeannie Dillingham

PLANNING FOR THE SEASON OF LIGHTS IN THE FALL
Our lower grades of Sunday School will begin making Christmas ornaments and Hanukkah decorations in September. They will be selling them as a fundraiser in November and December.

The YOU will have an Alternative Gifts market in October for those who may want to give something different for the holidays this year. Watch for the table in the lobby.

UNITEENS BAKE PIES FOR THANKSGIVING
The Uniteens will be baking pies to sell for Thanksgiving again this year. Start planning how many delicious apple and/or pumpkin pies made with loving hands that you may need. Stay tuned for order forms later. They will be delivered the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
